Martha Peaslee Levine, MD is Director of the Intensive Outpatient and Partial Hospitalization Eating Disorder Programs at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and Psychiatry. She uses journaling techniques in individual and group therapy because she finds that writing encourages self-discovery, self-acceptance and improved self-confidence. Dr. Levine has presented at national and international conferences on eating disorder treatment and on the benefits of writing. Dr. Levine’s publications include award-winning poetry, fiction and children’s books, most recently Stop That Nose! She has also written articles and op-ed pieces to educate the public on eating disorders and taught a course on Arts and Healing at Penn State/Hershey Medical School.
