Kym, I always think it's useful for all of us to watch each other walk the walk.
At least for me, it reminds me that we're all in this together, and that we all get to/have to walk the walk- or at least try to!
It's always worth giving ourselves lots of credit for walking the walk- which is not an easy thing to do.
I'm working with someone right now who is extremely ill- is going in and out of medical hospitals these days because of complications from her eating disorder.
I thought it was so ironic that I was ill because I could say to her, look, I know you don't want to be admitted to a hospital again, and I really do know how much it sucks to have to do that... and, it's really, really important for you to proceed anyway; you've got to be brave and do what needs to be done here.
We often think of walking the walk when we're walking BIG walks. It's a good thing to take note of ALL the walks we walk- because if we're striving to live our lives honestly and fully we walk lots of walks every day. Think about it: every time you tell the truth, every time you do something that's scrupulously honest, every time you do what you know you need to even when it's SO tempting to do something else (and easier...)... I consider all of those things walking the walk.
There are lots of people who can talk the talk. Talking the talk isn't hard. Walking the walk is often hard (and of course you get all the amazing things that go with it... so yay :)

I'm awesome at talking the talk. I'll leave it at that.

As manager of a social service agency we work a lot around diversity and acceptance. Last month a manager much higher then me was very inapproperiate with one of her line managers at a meeting (around the way she talks-English is not her first language). All the other managers in the room (all were from the same department, I was the only guest from another department) started laughing and adding to the insults. I didn't say anything at the time (maybe I can do it next time), but I knew I had to do something. I wrote the top managers and told the truth about my concerns and uncomfortness. I knew she could have caused me problems if she went above my head in my department, but I knew if I'm asking my employees to call out this stuff, I need to do it. I wrote a very careful letter to the top manager and she responded very nicely. Hardest thing I've done in a long time, but one of the most rewarding! Really felt like I streached my wings on that one.

Walking the walk is one of the biggest values I have, that I try to live by.

Welcome back Johanna,
Hope you are feeling better with each day.
Thank you for this post. It is always so reassuring to hear that we all face needing to walk the walk. It is difficult sometimes more than others but to know we are all in this together is very comforting. Life is a difficult journey, At least to live it consciously and fully. It is Rich, and difficult all at the same time and it is amazing to have people that " LIVE IT" and "Walk With Us"
It is great to have YOu and everyone back to the Blog, I am grateful for the connection

Yeah, glad to read another post! I had never thought about us having several walks...in my all or nothing thinking I kinda lumped them all intogether and realize that looking at it that way makes it seem like a lot more failure and missing out on the joy of jobs well done. I have always been a compliant client as I had a "good girl" mentality to a fault...for the first time in my recovery I have wanted to rebel hugely...not sure I like this new part of me?

Credit unions tend to offer lower interest rates too plus it's easier to get financing if it's a credit union from your work.
