Here's the Bumper Sticker of the Week: We can find time to chill.
A cute artist friend reminded me of this the other day. I've been immersed in an enormous project for the past several months- and it's not a particularly fun one, not like writing a book or writing to you guys. My usual state with regard to the project is alternating between feeling hugely stressed, grumpy and overwhelmed about having to undertake it.
My artist friend, who commiserated with my plight, and with my grumpiness, said that maybe I needed to sit still. Of course, I had the predictable response, something like, "oh yeah, right, like I have any time to sit still until this is over..." but I knew she was exactly right. And she wasn't talking about me taking a week vacation to a sunny beach-filled island. She was talking about sitting still emotionally/psychologically- not being so over the top spastic and stressed out 24/7. Taking a second here, a second there to settle down, to get re-balanced inside myself.
It's so typical for us humans, to think we don't have time to "take care of ourselves" or "take time for ourselves" when we get too busy or too stressed or, well, you know... too anything.
We all have to remind ourselves that we can find a way to chill- a moment here a moment there... it all adds up and makes a difference.

Having that moment to chill makes all the difference for me in regards to stress levels and eating. It's just REMEMBERING to take that moment to sit still. I guess the more you do it, the more natural it becomes.
