February 22-28, 2009 is National Eating Disorders Awareness Week
Every year around this time, healthcare professionals, along with patients, former patients, and families who have been personally affected by eating disorders, take time to highlight for the Nation both the devastating effects of these illnesses, and the hope that can be found through treatment and recovery.
This year is no exception. In fact, this year marks the beginning of new, highly anticipated efforts at improving the landscape of eating disorders treatment and research.
The National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA) is launching the STAR Program (States for Treatment, Access, and Research). Through their efforts, they will be bringing new levels of awareness about eating disorders through Legislative Press Briefings across the Nation. Briefings will take place at State Capitols from Coast to Coast.
Consider joining at your State Capitol on February 23, 2009 and make your presence known in our combined efforts to win fight against eating disorders. To find out more about the STAR Program, and to see if events have been scheduled at your State Capitol, click HERE.
The STAR Program builds on the efforts of the Academy of Eating Disorders and the Eating Disorders Coalition who joined together in 2007 by preparing the Worldwide Charter for Action on Eating Disorders. This groundbreaking work is already making a global impact as it seeks to improve education, research, treatment and support for the patients, their families and the healthcare professionals who treat them.

It's so nice to have you do all of the research for us. It makes our decision making so much easier!! Thanks.
