I am very excited to be a part of Gurze’s new blog site. It is always an honor for me to connect with people who care about eating disorders. I apologize for the delay in my posting. I have been in Alaska!
On one day of my visit, I actually had the opportunity to go ice climbing! Without freedom from my eating disorder, I would never have been able to take part in such an amazing sport. As I attempted to climb up a frozen waterfall, I experienced much gratitude for my healthy, strong body. I did not care what my body looked like on the outside --- the size of my hips or thighs. To get to the top of the mountain, I needed recovery.
To anyone out there who is touched by an eating disorder, you, too, can find freedom. It takes persistence, not perfection. You can get to the top of the mountain!

P.S. After ice climbing, I just lounged around in some great coffee shops in Anchorage. Life is all about balance. Right?
