A new study out from Rhode Island Hospital and Brown University found that --- not surprising to anyone familiar with eating disorders --- that most eating disorder diagnoses are for ED-NOS (eating disorder not otherwise specified), not anorexia or bulimia.
I am looking for participants to share their experience with having ED-NOS for an upcoming story in a national magazine.

Today I had the opportunity to spend time with the wonderful family of my friend who recently died from anorexia. Her memorial service was this morning in her hometown. Many tears fell. Despite the tears, the service was really a celebration of life. One word heard throughout the service was: hope.

In my travels, I meet lots of amazing people. I meet women and men who are brave enough to face their inner demons. Recently, I met McKenzie Tabor.
At a candlelight vigil for eating disorder victims, McKenzie read aloud a poem that she wrote about her personal struggle with anorexia/bulimia. I was deeply moved and asked her if I could share it with you. She said, “Yes!”

When I speak to a group, I often site the statistic:
Eating disorders have the highest mortality rate of any psychiatric illness.
I just came face to face with how true that fact is. The statistics are real. They are not just numbers. All of the numbers represent real people with real families.
