HAES has arrived!

I was at a community health committee meeting today where a couple of new people were in attendance. One was an athletic trainer and the other a physician. It became apparent pretty quickly that neither of them were familiar with the concept of "Health at Every Size" (HAES).

FEAR: A motivator or immobilizer?

Over the past few weeks our work for Andrea's Voice has taken us to Pennsylvania and me to Utah. In that time we presented to nearly 1,000 students, professionals, parents and treatment providers. At each of our destinations we spoke of the "fear" that can so often immobilize us and keep us "stuck." I recently received an email from a Bay area therapist, Linda Shanti McCabe, PsyD, announcing a workshop she's conducting. In a portion of her email she talks about this "fear:"
