This week is a school holiday for many school districts in the US. No matter where you are in the refeeding process, school vacations can provide an ideal window of time to do the tough but important work in battling your child’s eating disorder.
Perhaps you’re noticing that your child insists on eating the exact same lunch every day. Use this time to switch things up at lunch time. Maybe you’re noticing continued rigidity in terms of food selection. Now would be a great time to introduce those “challenge foods.” Be prepared for resistance and make sure you have planned your efforts ahead of time to ensure the best chance of success—meaning, all the other “rules” of refeeding still apply…namely consistency, teamwork, support.
Good luck and let me know how it goes!
