"You Gave Me Hope" a patient's poem
Jess, a thirteen-year old with anorexia, wrote this poem for me. It touched my heart. I hope it touches yours. Jess is now wonderfully recovered and still writing poetry. Marcia
Gave Me Hope
Love is close
And dear to my heart
This friendship we have
Is only the start
You saved my life and made it worth while
When I was blue
You helped me put on a smile
You took me under your wings
And embraced me for the rough flight
Even though it was a tough battle
We never gave up the fight
When I was weak
You made me so much stronger
Without you in my life,
I don't know if I could have lived a lot longer
Through good times and bad
Victories and defeat
You never let the worries slow you down
You never missed a beat
Somehow you always knew the right thing to say
You vanished all my worries
Made them all go away
You gave me hope and let me see the light
And in the end I won the fight
You helped me not be afraid to show my true self
You replenished my state of mind and nourished me back to health
Today when I look and the mirror and love who I have become
I know in the end we both have won
