The stigma surrounding eating disorders is almost as great a curse as the disorders themselves. Certainly the stigma aids and abets the pathology.

Stigma also contributed to Melissa Avrin's death, since no one around her believed how serious the consequences of bulimia could be.
Now Melissa's mother is making a film about her daughter to help fight the stigma.
We all can do our part simply by stopping and changing the language whenever we hear triggering comments or misinformation being spread.

It's so sad to hear about yet another girl that has lost her life to bulimia. The stigma must be lifted to increase society's awareness of how wide spread eating disorders are...the more we open up the more we can work together and fight back.
