Are You Seeing Your Body When You Look in the Mirror?

Eating disorders intensify the so-called body consciousness in our society.  But, we are not body conscious at all.  Many of us are surface conscious and unconscious where our actual bodies are concerned.

Thanksgiving is almost upon us.  This is a good time to expand your sense of gratitude for the wonder of your body, the body beneath the surface of the mirror reflection. 

Consciousness of your complete body and how it works, appreciation of the wonder that it exists and can work at all, awe that it and therefore you are alive, and then gratitude that all this creation is a gift to you is what will allow real body consciousness to develop.  When you see the complexity and beauty of your astounding vehicle that carries and support you and allows you to live, gratitude can flow.

You can be grateful too, for your responsibility.  It's taken thousands of years for this model to develop in the process of natural evolution.  Your job is simply to maintain it with the correct proportions of food, water, exercise and sleep. That too is body consciousness.

It's also health, freedom, and the gift to yourself of opportunity, joy and energy.  That's a beautiful combination.
